10Days Cultural Tour from Maasai Lodge to Serengeti National Park

  After breakfast drive to Longido to discover the Maasai Culture before heading to lake Natron. Meet some of the local elders and the warriors on a brief tour of the village and they will express out how life is like for the family in their traditional home called Boma, which is made from mud and cow dung. In the early morning, women leave the Boma to fetch water and collect firewood. Young children play outside their homes and at a very early age takes care of goats, cows and lambs. After breakfast at the Camp or Guesthouse you will get ready for a full day walking trip at the Maasai Land and see the women leave the Boma to fetch water and collect firewood. Young children play around the mud houses and start at a very early age to take care of kids and lambs. In the area there is an abundance of colorful birds. Day 4: Driving to Salle Village Visit the Maasai and their culture in an exceptional and preserved environment and live the rhythm of a Maasai family, learn about their way of life, their culture and their traditions. You will be awakened early by the cries of the very young animals calling their mothers, but before assembling them for grazing they will milk the cattle (cows, goats, sheep). You will share a maasai tea prepared with fresh boiled milk from their cattle. Then you will follow warriors, women and children to their daily duties like looking for fire wood, cattle grazing and in search for food. Your guide will explain their ways of life, their culture, their traditions, you will be able to interact with your extended family, your guide will be your translator. Maasai love meat and only eat it on occasion. We propose to share with you the ritual of sacrificing a goat, they will choke it, skin it in front of you, the meat will be cooked over a wood fire, the warriors will dance and sing their ancestral stories. Early in the morning after breakfast, you will transfer direct to ikoma village, where you will meet local people and learn their life style. The Ikoma are an ethnic and linguistic group based in Mara Region in northern Tanzania. The four tribes lived by hunting and gathering but later adopted agriculture, such as cultivating crops (mainly finger millet, simsim, groundnuts and sorghum) and keeping livestock (sheep, cattle and goats) for their subsistence, barter trade, and customary payments such as bride price. Even after adopting agricultural practices, the Waikoma remained dependent on wild animals for their source of protein. Meat from domestic animals was eaten only during customary ceremonies such as weddings, circumcision, or initiation into adulthood. However, with the increasing awareness on the importance of the conservation of wildlife and the government policy of sharing of the revenue from tourism with the local government and communities, hunting and depending on game meat is slowly becoming history to the Waikoma. They speak the Ikoma language. It is a simple Bantu language, easily understood by other Bantu people living around Lake Victoria and indeed the whole of East Africa. Day 6: Serengeti National Park via Fort ikoma historical sites After breakfast you will drive to Serengeti National Park via Fort ikoma. Fort Ikoma is one of those few historical sites in Tanzania which have a foreign architectural design. Those in awe of its old-age beauty can now visit and live a few nights in the fort! The fort was built a mile away from the Grummet River, on top of a series of low hills in the Serengeti region. Fort Ikoma is a historic landmark located in the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. Built by the Germans in 1901, the fort was originally used as a military base during the colonial period. Today, it serves as a museum and a popular tourist destination for visitors to the park. The little settlement of Ikoma, which is close to the Serengeti National Park’s northwestern boundary, is home to a historic colonial-era fort. Germans constructed it, using it as both a garrison and an administrative hub. Since then, it has undergone a few repairs. The structure is still standing as the beginning of the town and a popular tourist destination today. Day 7: Serengeti National Park Soon after breakfast you will have opportunity of full day game drive in Centra Serengeti dedicated to sport wildlife chaos at various points in Serengeti. Always mornings and evening are always the best moment to sport animals. You will descend into home of the wildlife in Serengeti or endless plains. All safari animals occur in a great number from “big five” to “small five according to big five”. Aside from big cats many others predator can be spotted including sported hyena during morning, jackal and more. Day 8: From Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater to Karatu Today you will be rewarded with a full day game drive in the stunning Ngorongoro Crater which became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979 and is one of the only places on earth where mankind and wild animals co-exist is harmony. The Ngorongoro Crater is famous for Africa’s best game viewing as there is an ever-present abundance of wildlife due to the permanent water supply on the crater floor. Upon arrival at the Crater’s rim, you will descend 610 meters into the Crater where your safari truly begins. Spot the endangered black rhino as well as wildebeest, buffalo, zebra, eland, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelle and of course, giant tusked elephants. The Crater also has the largest known population of lions and you will also find leopards and cheetahs as well as scavengers such as spotted hyenas, jackals and rare wild dogs. After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a small but diverse park. Everything you’ll see here is on a different scale. It is both compact (this is one of the narrowest parks in Africa) and epic (the Great Rift Escarpment towers over Lake Manyara’s western boundary). The park’s namesake is a shallow, Salt Lake. It covers a large area of the park, flooding and drying with the seasons, and is home to thousands of wading birds (including flamingos and over 500 other bird species). You may see baboons and elephants in the park’s thick evergreen forest, and watch for the tree-climbing lions that have become famous throughout Africa. This morning, you will be picked up from your hotel and drive to Tarangire National Park. The transit drive is approximately two and a half hours on good tarmac roads. The park is named after the Tarangire River which runs through it. This ‘river of warthogs’ is the only source of water for wildlife in the region during the dry season. The park is well known for its elephant families, which can often be seen congregating by the river. You may also see giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests animals are closely followed by a range of predators, including lions and leopards. There are more breeding species of birds found in Tarangire than anywhere else on the planet! The huge and ancient baobab trees can be seen here. Some of them are said to have lived for more than a thousand years. Lunch will be at a picnic site inside the park.
